Two Ramblers extended their seasons for another week Saturday at the Class 3A Fremd Regional.

Seniors Aidan McKeag and Sam Schierloh both will wrestle at Barrington’s sectional for an opportunity to compete at the state meet, which is Feb. 14-16 at University of Illinois’ State Farm Center in Champaign.

The last Loyola wrestler to get to the state meet was Ryan Wosick (Class of 2015) in 2014.

McKeag, the program’s all-time leader in wins, took second at 132 pounds at Fremd. He earned two wins by fall before being pinned in the final by Prospect senior Chad Vilchez. This is Mckeag’s third trip to the sectionals.

After not wrestling last season, Schierloh finished third at 195 pounds, winning two matches in the consolation bracket, including an 8-6 decision over Prospect senior Sam Hwang to secure his spot at the sectional.

The top three in each weight class advance to the sectionals.

Sophomore Josh Kreutz finished fourth at 220 pounds.
