BOYS LACROSSE: The Ramblers won their fifth game in a row, beating St. Rita 19-6 at home Tuesday. They have outscored opponents 99-23 during the streak and have scored no fewer than 17 goals.
“After losing those three games in New York, we looked at ourselves in the mirror and said we weren’t doing enough,” senior Mick Burden said. “Ever since we got back, everything has picked up.”
Burden won all 10 of his faceoffs and contributed two assists Tuesday. Seniors Patrick Cronin and Mike Feuer each scored four goals apiece. Senior Timothy Hackett totaled one goal and two assists, while junior Kaden Keller contributed two goals. Senior Nolan Chow, senior Connor Koch (pictured above), junior Branden Tait and freshman Connor Ditomasso all finished with one goal and one assist apiece.
Loyola (12-6) looks to complete an undefeated regular season against in-state teams when it hosts Glenbrook North on Thursday. The Ramblers will recognize their 15 seniors.
The Ramblers start the state tournament Monday. The defending state champions are the No. 1 seed at their own sectional.
“We are a new team, and we are hungry,” Burden said.
BASEBALL: The Ramblers managed three singles Tuesday in a 12-0 loss to Fremd in six innings at home. It was Loyola’s fifth consecutive loss and third shutout of the season. The previous four were by a combined seven runs.
Senior Jack Moran, senior Patrick Neenan and junior Mikey Bedanerak all had hits for the Ramblers.
Loyola (12-13) hosts Downers Grove South on Wednesday, plays at Glenbrook North on Thursday and at home against Evanston on Saturday. The Ramblers conclude the regular season at home Monday against Palatine before starting the Class 4A state tournament May 22 at Niles North’s regional. They are the No. 4 seed at their own sectional.
