Senior and Syracuse-bound Ben Dukes helped Loyola’s Men’s Varsity 4 boat qualify to the Petite Final, where the Ramblers took second to finish eighth in the country at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America’s national regatta May 24-25 at Dillon Lake in Nashport, Ohio.

Joining Dukes, who won a national championship last year on the JV8 boat, was senior Patrick Beale-DelVecchio, junior Gerry Malloy, junior Aidan McCarthy and junior coxswain Courtney Cochico.

The Women’s Varsity 8 boat missed out on advancing to the semifinals by less than one second. Seniors Ally Abeles, Katherine Carroll, Emma Hahn and Fiona Wardrop teamed up with juniors Caroline Colgan, Lauren Hering and Sophia Molins and sophomores Ella O’Neil and Kristen Dutkin, the coxswain.

The best finish belonged to the Women’s JV4 boat, which qualified for the Grand Finals and took third in the country. The all-sophomore crew included Olivia Banach, Marren Burgess, Lilly Fenci, Hannah Locke and coxswain Alex Cherf.

The Men’s JV4 boat made it as far as the semifinals. The boat consisted of junior Jack Dietmeier, junior William Hirsch, junior John Stazlka, junior Thomas Sullivan and junior coxswain Denny Yoo.
