GIRLS WATER POLO: The Ramblers placed fourth at the state tournament Saturday at Stevenson to match the program’s best finish since 2009. Loyola ended up 20-13, the first season with 20 or more wins since 2013.

After beating Conant 11-5 in the quarterfinals, the Ramblers lost to Fenwick 17-9 in the semis before falling to Naperville North 11-9. Stevenson beat the Friars 12-7 to capture the state championship.

Senior captain Lauren scored 14 goals, the second most at the state tournament behind Stevenson junior Lauren Maloney. Senior captains Nicole Kielba and Sarah Pinkerton and junior Aidan Koconis-O’Malley all finished with four. Senior Shannon Kearney scored two goals.

BOYS TENNIS: Senior Alan Arocho finished first in singles at the Class 2A Niles North Sectional on Saturday. The Ramblers qualified three entires to the state tournament, which is Thursday through Saturday and hosted by Hersey.

Senior Andy Paden and junior Jack Livaditis took third by beating senior teammates Daly Frost and Tommy Sullivan.
