Trailing the Titans 5-3 at the half, Loyola tied it up at 6-all on senior Claire Caffery’s goal and took a 7-6 lead on freshman Ellie Lazzaretto’s goal.

Glenbrook South got even at 7-all, but Dolan scored back-to-back goals to put the Ramblers ahead for good. Doell’s final goal proved to the be the game-winner.

“Glenbrook South was fired up and played really well,” Loyola head coach John Dwyer said. “Give them credit. But give our kids credit, too. They could have folded the tent and packed it in because maybe it wasn’t our night. But we fought hard. Doell got us going early with a couple of early goals, and Dolan played like her usual self.”

Caffery and Lazzaretto each finished with two goals. Junior Maggie Gorman and Dolan both had one assist. Sophomore Sophia Rucker won nine draw controls.

“We know we are going to have to play better, if we want to be there in June,” Dwyer said.

Loyola (14-3) will recognize its four seniors — Mary Kate Campbell, Helen Hitt, Caffery, Dolan — at home today against Evanston. The Ramblers close out the regular season on the road Wednesday against Barrington.

The Ramblers received the No. 1 seed at the Evanston Sectional. They open the postseason at home May 21 against No. 8 Mather. This is the first season lacrosse is an official IHSA sport.

GIRLS SOCCER: The Ramblers wrapped up their 13th conference championship in 15 seasons Monday by beating St. Francis 2-0 in Wheaton. They finished 5-0-1 in the GCAC Red.

Juniors Emily Chrisman and Sammie Holton each scored goals in the win, while senior keeper Maggie Avery earned the shutout.

Loyola beat Lakes 2-1 on the road Wednesday. The Ramblers (15-1-4) end the regular season at home Friday against Stevenson. The team will recognize seniors Riley Burns, Anna Holton, Stephanie Ramsay, Cate Shellenback and Avery.

The Ramblers, the No. 2 at the Class 3A Glenbrook South Sectional, start the playoffs Tuesday against No. 15 Von Steuben at Niles North’s regional.

BASEBALL: The Ramblers conclude the Catholic Blue schedule today on the road against Providence Catholic. Loyola (15-8-1, 7-6) is on a three-game winning streak in conference play. The Ramblers won all three in the seventh inning.

The Ramblers lost to New Trier 20-10 at home Wednesday. They committed eight errors in defeat. Senior Will Jackson, senior Trey Torain and junior Jake Novak all hit home runs.

Loyola plays at Libertyville on Friday and at home Saturday against St. Ignatius.

The Ramblers earned the No. 4 seed at the Class 4A Loyola Sectional. They open the postseason May 23 at Notre Dame’s regional.

SOFTBALL: The Ramblers beat Ridgewood 4-3 at home Wednesday for their fifth consecutive win.

Emily Molloy led Loyola at the plate after hitting a three-run home run in the first inning. Alexis Rocha pitched out of trouble in the seventh to go the distance for the victory. She struck out six.

KK Raymond had two hits and scored two runs.

The Ramblers (16-6) return to GCAC Red play today when they travel to play Montini. They visit Mother McAuley on Saturday. Loyola is 8-6 in the league.

Loyola received the No. 6 seed at the Class 4A Warren Sectional. The Ramblers open the playoffs May 22 against No. 11 Glenbrook North at their own regional.
