GIRLS SOCCER: The Ramblers are off to a 3-0 start and have outscored opponents 14-0. The latest win was a 9-0 victory Monday against Trinity in the GCAC Red opener. Sophomore forward Ellie Zern scored two goals, and eight other players had one apiece for the defending conference champions.

A balanced offense has been a theme so far for the Ramblers.

Senior midfielder Cate Shellenback and junior forward Maggie Brett both have scored three goals. Brett also has a team-best three assists. Senior forward Stephanie Ramsay and Zern each have two goals. Four others own one goal apiece. Junior midfielder Madeline Phillips and Ramsay both have two assists. In all, 10 players have at least one assist.

Loyola plays Mother McAuley on Wednesday at home before co-hosting the North Shore Invite with New Trier. The 11-team tournament starts Saturday with pool play. The Ramblers, who are in a pool with Glenbrook South and Lake Forest, play April 9 against the Titans. They play the Scouts on April 11.

SOFTBALL: In the GCAC Red opener Wednesday, the Ramblers put on an offensive show in their 22-3 win over Trinity in five innings at Triton College in River Forest. Loyola (4-0, 1-0) has scored 60 runs in four games, putting up 18 against Niles North and 15 against Taft.

Against the Blazers, senior Nora Conway had four hits, while senior Alexis Rocha and junior Cassidy Rodgers both drove in four runs. Rocha struck out five to earn the win in the circle.

Loyola plays a league doubleheader Saturday at home against Mother McAuley.
