Notes: The Ramblers won their ninth state title in a row last year at Northwestern’s Lakeside Field. Head coach John Dwyer said he doesn’t put any stock into the streak. “Every year is a clean slate,” he said. “This group hasn’t won anything. We don’t have any burdens or expectations.” … This is the first season that lacrosse is an official IHSA sport. The Ramblers are at the Evanston Sectional and in a separate supersectional from traditional state powers Hinsdale Central, Lake Forest and New Trier. … After carrying 12 seniors a year ago, there are only four this season. Nonetheless, a majority of the roster has varsity experience. “We expect these girls to step up and perform,” Dwyer said. “We don’t anticipate a dropoff.” … Loyola lost a significant portion of its offensive production with the graduation of US Lacrosse’s Midwest Player of the Year Brennan Dwyer, now a freshman midfielder at Northwestern, Colleen Huffman (Yale) and Madison Kane (Marquette). Dwyer also took most of the draw controls, helping the Ramblers win 69.1 percent of them. John Dwyer said he’s looking at as many as six players to fill the role. … Loyola plays six games before embarking on its annual trip to the Washington, D.C. area to compete against some of the country’s top teams.
