Loyola junior guard Julia Martinez became the program’s all-time leader in career assists in Tuesday’s 54-29 win over De La Salle at home.
Her eight assists run her total to 510, putting Martinez (pictured above) ahead of 1999 graduate Laura Sobieszczyk, who ended her career with 502.
“It means a lot,” said Martinez, a three-year starter. “I have put in a lot of work over the years. I have to thank my teammates because they are the ones scoring the points.”
As a sophomore, Martinez established the record for assists in a single season with 196.
Against De La Salle, senior guard Erin Dillon made five 3-pointers to finish with a game-high 19 points. Junior forward Jordan Moser scored nine points, while junior guard Celia Satter added seven points and senior forward Lilly Wehman had six points. Eight players scored for the Ramblers (20-5).
Loyola has eight seasons with at least 20 wins since Jeremy Schoenecker took over as head coach in 2008.
