Head coach: Tom Fitzgerald, 39th season
2017 season: Second in Catholic League
Players to watch: Alan Arocho, sr.; Daly Frost, sr.; Andy Paden, sr.; Thomas Sullivan, sr.; Jonah Wheeland, sr.; John Carpenter, jr.; Patrick Lawler, jr.; Jack Livaditis, jr.
Notes: According to Tom Fitzgerald, the top priority is capturing the conference championship. After a run of three in a row, the Ramblers took second to St. Ignatius last year. “We are poised to regain the title,” Fitzgerald said. “We have more depth this year.” … Helping the cause is the return of Alan Arocho, who sat out last season to compete on the junior circuit. Committed to Brown, Arocho is Loyola’s No. 1 singles player. “He makes our lineup a lot better,” Fitzgerald said. “We missed him last year.” Arocho’s brother, Anthony Arocho (Class of 2014), is a senior tennis player at Brown. Alan qualified for the state tournament in doubles as a sophomore. … Andy Paden, a two-time conference champ in doubles, is back at No. 1 doubles. He will have his third partner in three seasons. Paden is a captain for a second consecutive season. Jonah Wheeland is the other captain. … Fitzgerald said this has been the worst spring in terms of weather in all of his years at Loyola. “People always ask me that question, but this year takes it,” he said.
