GAME NOTES: This time last season, Brother Rice and Loyola both were 8-0. The Ramblers beat the Crusaders 48-37 in Chicago to capture the Catholic Blue championship. With a win Saturday in Wilmette, the Ramblers will earn their third outright league title in a row. Meanwhile, the Crusaders, whose season is over after this weekend, will play the role of spoiler. Loyola has 11 consecutive conference games. … Brother Rice isn’t the same team it was a year ago, but the Crusaders might not be as bad as their record indicates. Three of their six losses were by eight points or less. They lost to 7-1 Crete-Monee 33-25, 5-3 Montini 29-28 and 5-3 Providence Catholic 22-16. Brother Rice’s six losses are to teams with a combined record of 36-12. … Gone are quarterback Dino Borrelli and receiver Ricky Smalling from an offense that averaged 45.3 points. The biggest name on Brother Rice’s offense is 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle and Indiana commit Nick Marozas. The Crusaders are averaging 26.8 points a game this year. … Loyola is looking good after winning its seventh game in a row Friday, a 28-3 win over Providence Catholic in New Lenox. The Ramblers have outscored their three Catholic Blue opponents 93-24.
