GAME NOTES: As in most cases when these two teams meet, it’s big game for both Loyola (4-1, 1-0 Catholic Blue) and St. Rita (4-1, 1-1) on Friday in Chicago. A win by the two-time defending conference champion Ramblers ties them with Providence Catholic for first in the league, setting up a must-see showdown in New Lenox in Week 8. St. Rita is looking for its first league title since it shared one with Loyola and Mount Carmel in 2013. The Mustangs lost to the Celtics 28-21 in Week 3. … Senior quarterback Jake Zylman is the engine of the St. Rita offense. He’s passed for 547 yards and three touchdowns and run for 381 yards and 11 TDs. Senior Chris Childers has 486 yards on the ground and seven TDs. The Mustangs average 256.8 rushing yards a game and 6.2 yards per carry. The team’s top receiver is senior David Gleaves, who has 13 catches for 172 yards and two TDs. Another St. Rita standout is junior kicker/punter Gavin Motti. He’s 3-for-5 on field goals, 23-for-24 on extra points and averages 36.8 yards per punt. … Loyola had its best all-around offensive game in last week’s 41-14 win over Fenwick. The Ramblers ran for 280 yards and threw for 209, averaging 5.8 yards per play. They controlled the clock, too, possessing the ball for 28 minutes, 47 seconds. … This is the 20th season for St. Rita head coach Todd Kuska, who’s compiled a record of 168-75 during his time and has qualified for the state playoffs in 15 of the last 17 years. … The Ramblers have won the last three games in the series, including a 56-14 win in 2015 in Chicago.
