GAME NOTES: After a three-game gauntlet against top-notch opponents, Loyola goes on the road Friday to play St. Francis in a Catholic League crossover. The Ramblers (2-1, 1-0 Catholic Blue) beat the Spartans (1-2, 0-1 Catholic Green) 55-0 in Wilmette last year. … Loyola got its offense on track in last week’s 31-7 win over Mount Carmel. Senior quarterback Quinn Boyle finished 17-for-26 for 144 yards and three touchdowns, his first passing TDs of the season. Boyle also ran 14 times for 77 yards and one TD. For the season, he’s completed 68.6 percent of his passes and hasn’t turned over the ball. … Senior receiver James Joyce, senior tight end Alex King and junior Rory Boos all caught their first varsity TDs last week. Joyce finished with six catches for 50 yards and leads the team with 13 receptions. … After one takeaway in two games, the defense forced three in the first half, all of which led to TDs and a 24-0 lead at intermission. Senior defensive lineman Nicholas Murphy (pictured above) recovered two fumbles. … St. Francis has its third head coach in four seasons as Bob McMillen takes over for Joe Lepsche, who finished 1-8 in his one season with the Spartans. … McMillen was a three-sport athlete at Immaculate Conception and played football at Benedictine before enjoying a long career in the Arena Football League, where he was a fullback/linebacker from 1995-2007. He later coached in the AFL and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2013. … This is St. Francis’ last season in the Catholic League. The Spartans will join the Metro Suburban Conference next season, along with Aurora Christian and Bishop McNamara.
