Loyola 24, Providence Catholic 7

GAME RECAP: The Ramblers are where they want to be, according to Loyola sophomore head coach Les Seitzinger. After beating the Celtics at home Saturday, the 8-0 Ramblers will play Brother Rice, also undefeated, on the road Friday for the Catholic Blue championship. On Saturday, Providence led 7-0, but the resilient Ramblers responded right away. A 23-yard field goal by Eddie Auer made it 7-3, and Loyola recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. Three plays later, Jack Fallon found Rory Boos for a 37-yard touchdown pass to give the Ramblers a 10-7 lead at intermission. Fallon threw a 60-yard TD pass to Artie Collins in the third quarter, and Fallon later scored on a 7-yard run in the fourth quarter for the final margin.

COACH’S COMMENT: “Providence is such an outstanding program, and we knew it would be an extremely physical game,” Seitzinger said. “Our undersized offensive and defensive lines battled all day and earned us a win.”
